What are your payment options?
The deposit is due when the order is placed or when dispatched. Balance can be either COD or paid on Dispatch.
How far in advance should I schedule the transport of my vehicle?
It is best to contact us for auto transport quotes as soon as possible, and to provide us with the earliest pick up date up front. Carriers sometimes plan their loads a week in advance, but will also pick up last minutes vehicles that are available. We have auto transport trucks that are continually delivering vehicles all over the country. The sooner we have your information, the better we can plan, and achieve your overall shipping goals.
What situations might warrant extra fees?
Most car types will generally fall into the same standard price quoting range. A nominal fee can be expected if your vehicle is inoperable, oversized or modified. Please inform us of these conditions when making arrangements, and absolutely prior to arrival of the transport carrier, so that we can have the proper equipment available to move and deliver your car safely. In addition, if we dispatch a carrier and the vehicle is not ready for one reason or another, this will result in a dry run fee of at least $100.
How long is the quoted price available?
Quoted prices are good for 7 days assuming we have all the correct information that would be necessary. We cannot guarantee it for longer than 7 days due to fluctuating fuel prices.
Is my car insured during transport?
In addition to our coverage and that of the carrier, you will also need to have insurance coverage in place for the vehicle prior to being transported. Any loss due to theft or damage that occurs due to an “act of God” would fall under your policy. The carrier’s policy is in force only in situations where damage is the direct result of the driver’s negligence.
What do I need to do prior to transport?
It is best to make some simple preparations before your car is placed on to the trailer. Below are some tips to help make your transport go smoothly.
- Wash Your Vehicle: Your carrier-driver will need to inspect your vehicle and take pictures if necessary. This is for your benefit as well as the carrier.
- Lower Your Antennas: Antennas should be removed from the vehicle or lowered if possible. Temporary antennas need to be removed entirely.
- Provide Keys: U.S. Department of Transportation requires that one set of all keys for the vehicle be provided to the carrier, including the ignition, trunk, and glove box keys.
- Disable Your Alarms: Alarms should be turned off for transport. If there are special instructions required to start a car in order to disarm the alarm, please inform your Nations representative so they can note it on your dispatch sheet, which will be given to the carrier-driver. The carrier is not responsible for drained batteries resulting from an alarm that has not been turned off.
- Removed Detachable Racks: Remove any luggage, bike, or ski rack that is not permanently attached to the car.
- Check for Leaks: The vehicle cannot have any obvious fluid leaks.
- Secure Your Battery: The vehicle battery must be secure in the mounting bracket.
- Remove Covers, Spoilers, Fairings, Air Dams or other low handing items: All exterior spare tire covers, grill covers, or car covers and hanging items must be removed from the vehicle. Your vehicle will be loaded on a truck that will bounce up and down…low riding items could incur damages if not prepared properly.
- Pre-existing Damages: Carriers will not be responsible for damage caused by any pre-existing condition or for parts that may come loose in the moving process. Carrier is not responsible for preventable damage caused by Acts of Nature. Examine your vehicle carefully before signing the Bill of Lading. Any damage not noted could end up costing you money if not reported at the time of pick up or delivery.
- Remove Personal Items: Do NOT leave or transport anything valuable in your vehicle. We are not responsible for anything loose inside your car, including cell phones, radar detectors, garage door openers, E-Z Pass, removable radios, household goods, sunglasses, etc. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) prohibits the carrying of personal items on a truck licensed only for carrying automobiles. Stored personal items can also increase the overall weight of your vehicle, and could cause damage during transport. Any items left in the vehicle are subject to removal upon inspection at state line check points by the DOT.
- Gas: The gas tank must have a minimum of 1/8 tank of fuel, but no more than 1/2 tank of fuel. The carrier may have to move your vehicle more than once to accommodate other cars that are being transported.
Does my vehicle need to have a current registration before you can transport it?
No, your vehicle will be on a truck and therefore, current or valid registration is not required, however it is advisable that you have your own insurance coverage. We ship auction loads regularly, and these vehicles are not licensed at all. It is the responsibility of the owner to license the vehicle before driving the vehicle on the streets.
How soon will the car be picked up and delivered?
We strive to have your vehicle move complete within 8-10 days of booking the appointment. However, factors like weather, construction routes, traffic issues and mechanical breakdowns may cause unavoidable delays, so we can’t offer a guarantee. We know that your vehicle is very important to you, and we always strive to provide you with a realistic time frame for both pick-up and delivery.
Where will my car be picked up and delivered?
We strive to provide door-to-door service to the addresses that you provide us with. There are cases though, where our drivers must meet you at a nearby location such as a parking lot. This can occur if you live on a narrow street, cul-de-sac or if there are low hanging tree branches. Also, there are some municipal weight restrictions and other local laws that can create the need to meet at an alternative location.
Do I need to be present when the car is picked up or delivered?
Yes, you or somebody you have designated will need to be present. Our drivers will perform an inspection of the vehicle and will need a signature for that, and the bill of lading.
How will I know when you will arrive to pick up or deliver my vehicle?
Our dispatcher will make every effort to stay in contact with you throughout your transaction. However, the driver will be your primary contact for exact pick up and drop off time frames and he will make a phone call allowing enough time for the customer to get to the pickup or drop off location.
Who will drive the car on to the transport vehicle?
Insurance rules require that the car be placed on the transport equipment by the transport driver.
